These pages revisit the results of my research on wild orchids in the Province Pesaro-Urbino in the years 1987-1991 which was originally published as "Distribution of the Orchidaceae of the Province Pesaro-Urbino (Central-East Italy)" in Beiträge zur Erhaltung und Erforschung heimischer Orchideen AHO Baden-Württemberg  (vol. 23 (4), 1991, pp.557-747).  The data concerning the distribution of orchid species in the area were to some extent updated to the year 1996 in a subsequent publication which I wrote together with Rodolfo Crescentini: Orchidee Spontanee della Provincia Pesaro e Urbino, con osservazioni sulle specie delle Marche, Pesaro, 1997.

In these webpages I cover the species found in the Marche and bring distribution information up to date. Maps have been included which show all recorded finds on a 5 km grid.  While the data for Pesaro-Urbino are reasonably complete, those for the rest of the Regione is mainly work in progress.

Each species page has a separate publication date displayed in the top right-hand corner, which shows when the page was last updated. Many of the pictures taken before 2001 are scans from original colour transparencies. Some of these were printed in the above publications, but most were left unused and are here published for the first time. Pictures are all mine unless indicated otherwise. For the time being these pages are "work in progress" and species will be added until all are represented by a separate webpage. This, of course, will take some time to complete.

I am much interested in additional information concerning the orchids of the Province Pesaro-Urbino and surrounding areas, and will gladly update these pages with new relevant material. Any pictures and information you send me will be fully acknowledged when included in these pages.
